About

This is the memorial website for Stephen Rickett.  He was my brother and a friend to many people.  He was a bass player based in Savannah, Georgia until his death in July of 2010.

  1. (I just found out today and I’ve signed the other guestbook.)
Steve and I met in ’72 at the Eastern Music Festival, Greensboro, NC. My first summer job, Steve was interning. He made a big impression, and we’ve been friends since. We stayed in touch now and then through CSM, Savannah and Hilton Head. He played with the NC Symphony during a summer in Boone, NC also.

Steve’s talent as a musician and love of life is known to all. What a fine guy to play with, and to party with. We had great music and great times together.

My sincere condolences to all his family. You have lost a very bright light.

  2. I just learned of Steve’s death from a friend and collegue, Bob Anderson. I played in Savannah Symphony (viola) in 1983 and Steve and I became good friends…I was very fond of him and have many good memories of those days. I was so sad to learn of his passing…I have been in NC Symphony since 1984 and only saw Steve once since coming here. Please accept my sincerest condolences on your loss.
Steve was a talented, fun-loving good person and I wish I’d had a chance to see him again.

    Sincerely,
    Sandy Schwarcz
    violist, NC Symphony
